The ARM Processor is a RISC (Reduced Instruction Set Computer) machine. The RISC instruction set is primarily known for smaller number of instructions and higher throughput at a lower power.

The ARM Architecture is characterized by the following

  • Load-store architecture.
  • Fixed length 32 bit instructions in ARM Mode and 16 bit instructions in THUMB Mode.

    • The Micro-A748 Development board is based on the LPC2148 chip from NXP. The microcontroller works at a maximum frequency of 70 MHz. it has a on-chip ram of 96KB and Flash memory of 512KB. The Micro-A748 development board is a full featured board with the LPC2148 SOC interfaced to various peripherals on the board. Multiple peripherals are interfaced to PORT Pins of the SOC. Devices like LED’s and LCD, I2C interface based memory devices, RTC, SD/MMC Card interface, Matrix Keypad, ADC, DAC, graphical LCD, Stepper motor, etc are also interfaced on the board. Different peripherals can be selected by using jumpers so multiplexing of devices has been possible.
